This week, Year 4 children were looking at the structure of a musical composition using Bati Strauss' method.
This method lets children know classical pieces through so - called ''active listening'' which requires performing easy rhythmic choreography to music using percussion instruments.
The children learned that musical composition is the process of forming a piece of music by putting musical ideas in phrases and phrases in sections.
We listened to ''Turkish March'' by Mozart and looked at some elements of music like tempo, dynamics and tonality, then we identified if the tune had a theme ( a section that is repeated). Finally, we responded to the tune using percussion instruments.
