In year 3 art, we have been responding to the painting Surprised! By Henri Rousseau as part of the National Gallery's Take One Picture project. We discussed the painting in detail thinking about what we could see, hear, feel and smell.
The children were particularly interested in two aspects of the painting: how the weather is shown and the movement of the tiger.
We decided to draw tigers - it is incredibly difficult and the children shown great determination and resilience!
