This week, Year 2 children were looking at the structure of a musical composition using Bati Strauss' method.
This method lets children know classical pieces through so - called ''active listening'' which requires performing easy rhythmic choreography to music using gestures and percussion instruments.
The children learned that musical composition is the process of forming a piece of music by combining different parts called sections and a song will have more than one section.
We listened to ''Polka for Anna'' by J Strauss and looked at some elements of music like tempo, dynamics and tonality, then we identified if the tune had two or more sections. Finally, we responded to the tune using percussion instruments.
