Reception celebrate people who help us

Reception definitely had a WOW day today. When the doors opened this morning we were met with fire fighters, doctors, waitresses, builders, vets, performers even teachers to name a few. The children were very excited and loved sharing what they would like to be when they are older.

We were also very fortunate to have some professionals come in and talk about their jobs. We met PC Wayne who explained how his main job was helping people. He then showed the children some of the different police hats he wears, the different vehicles police officers use and spoke about his day to day duties. When we met our school nurse they spoke about healthy eating and the children were asked to identify foods which would make a healthy and unhealthy lunchbox, Oscar identified a pear was healthy and Albert said "eating both fruit and vegetables would keep us healthy". Sinmi and Nellie then went on to say that we can stay healthy by "exercising through yoga and dancing". Our paramedic Lisa spoke about all of the different vehicles the ambulance service use from cars, motorbikes to helicopters. Luna knew that there job was "to take people to hospital" She showed the children how to bandage a cut and even taught them some sign language. To end our day we got to meet our local fire fighters and we even got to sit inside their truck. We also experimented with their hose to see how far the water would go!

There was lots of awe and wonder on the children's faces and we would like to extend our Thanks to all those that helped make this day such a success!
