Fire Station fun for Year 2!

This week Year 2 visited the local fire station as part of our history work.  The children had great fun finding out what it is like to be a firefighter now and they have been comparing this with what life was like during the time of The Great Fire of London in 1666.  They are so knowledgeable about the facts of The Great Fire of London and how the eye witness account in Samuel Pepys diary has helped us find out about this event.

They looked around the station and found out what the firefighters do and wear when they are on duty.  They saw all the equipment on the fire engine and they were able to actually spray the hose.
Great fun was had by all!

If you do not have a fire alarm at home please complete the leaflet we sent home and the fire fighters will bring a free one to your home.
