Weekly newsletter - 09-07-21 - Important Information

Dear Parents and Carers,

Dogs in the playground
Dogs should not come onto school premises unless express permission has been given by the school (e.g. guide dogs). Thank you.

Fidget spinners
We have had some difficulty with children bringing in fidget spinners and swapping them; this has caused a number of issues and arguments so from Monday, they should not be brought into school.

Miss Calitz provides fidget spinners for some children where we have been advised by professionals that they would be useful for them to have access to.

Sports Morning/Afternoons
Unfortunately the rain and wet grass has meant we have needed to reschedule most events. Mr Robinson and Mr Stanbridge have worked with the teachers to arrange new dates. These are in the Key Dates section of this letter. For the Sports morning/afternoon, the children will wear their PE kits.

YN - Y5 and ARP Class Parties - Wednesday 21st July (pm)
To celebrate the end of the school year, we will be holding class parties on this afternoon. This will be a non-uniform day and the children may wear age appropriate summer clothes for this day. This must include sensible footwear and no makeup, jewelry etc.

We would also be grateful for donations for your child’s class party which could include any from the following:

Crisps                 Iced Gems            Biscuits                Small Cakes

Mini sausages                 Chicken Nuggets                   Sausage Rolls         Wraps        Breadsticks

We would request that contributions do not contain nuts and are brought in the day before/the day of the party. The school will provide water and fruit cordial throughout the afternoon as well as paper plates and disposable cups.

If your child has a specific allergy or dietary requirement, you may provide your child with a specific plate of food for the party. This should be clearly labelled and brought to school on the day of the party.

Y6 will be having a separate party to mark the end of their time at Mead. Mrs Keen is writing to Y6 parents with details of their leaving arrangements.

Breakfast Club
At the end of this term, Havering Catering will no longer be offering a breakfast club provision at Mead. We are currently working with an established breakfast club provider with a view to starting a new service in September. Information about this provision will be shared very soon.

School Reports
Please complete the Google form below if you would like to request a telephone meeting with your child’s teacher to discuss their school report. Google Request for a telephone meeting to discuss your child’s report.

September school update
Following guidance this week from the Department of Education, we can share our plans for September. This is of course subject to change, but we sincerely hope we can offer a more typical school experience which we have all missed over the last 16 months.

Parent Communication
We are looking to make further improvements to our communication with parents and would be really grateful if you would complete the Google Survey below. We are already working on some new plans to improve our communication (e.g. new website) but would welcome your ideas! Parent Communication Google Survey

Chromebooks
Please return all Chromebooks by the end of term; we still have 61 to be returned. Thank you.

Attendance
This week’s attendance is 93.1% which is below our target. For the last couple of weeks, we really want to see your children in school every day as they finish their end of year learning, celebrate the year and enjoy some end of term traditions. They will also have the opportunity to meet their new teacher and find out more about next year!
