Y3 Forest School Update!

We are 4 weeks into Forest School this term & the children have had a fantastic experience so far.
Here is an update on what they have been up to over the past few weeks:

Session 2: Amazing discoveries at forest school! The children were super eager to explore and really enjoyed the game of hide and move! Some even continued playing this throughout the session on their own. Digging combined with the use of magnifying glasses aided the children as they sort to find mini-beasts. Worms were easy to find but an unusual caterpillar (looking very much like a stick) kept us all intrigued.

Session 3: The teamwork displayed was brilliant. We started with a game of 'Bat and Moth' which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Everyone was keen to participate and they all took care to watch out for their friends. It was lovely to watch the children developing their own areas of learning. Some focused on digging, others enjoyed searching the canopy for wildlife and were so excited when they identified a bird by its call. Yet others created amazing artwork using the ground as their canvas.

This week: Great opportunities for creativity through Hapa Zome (the Japanese art of bashing leaves to use the dye). We made ground pictures of our faces, which showed the children's feelings whilst at forest school this week; Lots of smiles were shown on these faces. Some children focused on creating homes for mini-beasts. The forest has allowed for great diversity of activities and individuals trying new experiences, long may it continue!
