Year 1's artist fun!

Year 1 were visited by the artist Heather Libson in the weeks commencing 20th June.

Heather created the workshop for the children in a bid to introduce them to new art materials and to help them gain new skills. The children used charcoal to create drawings of ducks. A child from Australia class said that the charcoal "makes the feathers look soft!"

The children then used twigs dipped into watery black paint to add more striking lines and colour to their pieces. After talking to the children about their experience, 100% said they enjoyed creating their pictures and that they would like to do it again.

Heather Libson commented on the high quality of work that the children produced.

As a result of the workshop, all of the children were able to create a piece of artwork and all felt confident to take part in the lesson. It was wonderful to see the sense of achievement on the children's faces.
