Steel Pans In Reception

This year we were very fortunate in Reception to be visited by Marcella and Junior and their steel pans. The children were given a performance of a medley of songs played on the steel pans and we all sang along and clapped to the beat.

As part of our workshop we were told the origins of the steelpans, how they are made and we even got to play them.

I liked the conga, it was fun
Shomari

I enjoyed the singing
Matvejs.

My favourite song was 'Who Let the Dogs Out?
Billy

The children and staff thoroughly enjoyed the experience, showcasing their singing and dancing skills! It is part of our vision at Mead to ensure that all pupils enjoy a range of cultural experiences from around the world.

Why not explore their website for yourselves, where you can even play the steel pans interactively!
