Weekly Newsletter - Important Information

Friday 31st January 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been wonderful to see so many Year 2 parents in school, helping with the children’s sewing projects. We hope you have enjoyed this special time together and seeing the children’s creativity in action.

Fire Drill & Lockdown Procedures

This week, we practiced our lunchtime fire drill. It is important that we carry out these drills to ensure all children are aware of the procedures and can make their way safely to their designated assembly points. The children did a fantastic job, remaining calm and sensible throughout the drill.

As a school, we have a duty to conduct regular fire and lockdown drills as part of our safeguarding procedures. Over the coming weeks, we will also be conducting a lockdown drill. These drills help us ensure that all children and staff are fully prepared in the event of an emergency

Remembering Ms. Wolf

This week, we took delivery of our Buddy Benches, which have been purchased as part of our memorial to Ms. Wolf. Next week marks one year since her passing, and we want to take this opportunity to remember and celebrate her life. The Buddy Benches serve as a reminder of the kindness, warmth, and joy she brought to Mead. To honor her memory, we will hold a special assembly next week.

Parental Consents – Photo & Video Sharing

As a school, we regularly celebrate our pupils’ achievements by sharing photos and videos on our website, social media and other school communications. This helps us keep our community informed, promote our school values and create an inspiring learning environment.

In light of recent insights and best practice guidance, we are now reviewing our approach to photo and video sharing. As part of this process, we are asking all parents and carers to review and resubmit their consent.

You can withdraw or update your consent at any time by making a written request. Additionally, we are implementing immediate changes, including limiting public photo-sharing and using private channels such as School Ping where necessary.

👉 Please complete the updated consent form by Friday, 14th February, at the latest.
Until we have received this information, we will not be sharing photographs or videos of children on our Facebook page.

School Uniform Reminder

A reminder that all children must wear full school uniform. From next week, we will begin issuing letters to parents where this is not adhered to. School uniform is an important part of belonging, and we appreciate your support in ensuring all children come to school dressed appropriately.

Parents Evening

We are looking forward to sharing all of the wonderful things your children have been learning with you during parents evening. If you are unable to attend your parents evening appointment please let your child’s teacher know in advance where possible. KS2 appointments after 3:30pm will be held in the dining hall. The KS2 playground gate will be locked but you can access the school through Gate 2 or

Gate 3. If you are attending appointments during the day please come to the school office.

Abacus-After School Club

Due to Parents Evening next week Abacus Afterschool club will be based in the year three block on Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th February.

Collection will also be outside of the year three block which is alongside the dining hall.
