In year 2 this week, we have been looking at a variety of materials and their properties. The children have been on a material hunt - identifying the materials that objects are made from and discussing why they are fit for purpose.
The children were faced with a scenario about a vet who is having a difficult time with her messy animals! The children had to predict which material they thought would be the most absorbent for her to use for bedding.
“I think the sponge will be the most absorbent,” Jack said.
“We made it a fair test by keeping them in the water for the same amount of time each time,” Yoyin said.
The children planned and carried out their investigation and were shocked to discover that cotton wool was in fact more absorbent than a sponge.
Well done to all of the children for their fantastic engagement and investigation skills!
