Dear Parents/Carers

We hope you are having a lovely but I am sure very busy weekend. The children had an exciting week  practicing for our Christmas play and enjoyed learning about the very first Christmas.

Thank you to all the people that attended our `Stay and Make' session and our Stay and Read morning. Our family partnership is very important to us and we know how much the children love to have their parents visit them in school.

This week we will be reading a range of Christmas stories and making our Christmas cards to send home. The children will be writing their name and a simple message.

We are still short of a few costumes for the Christmas play. If your child is an animal and part of our choir in the Christmas play, they would have brought home a note asking for black clothes to be brought into school
Boys - Black trousers (these can be their school trouser) and a black top
Girls - black trousers/leggings and a black top.
Ideally we would prefer a plain black top.
Please bring these in with you on Monday morning.

We look forward to welcoming you to our Christmas concerts next week. Entry will be via Gate 3.
Due to a consideration of hall space we would appreciate it if you only send a couple of visitors to each performance.

Please remember that the school is closed on Thursday 12th December for polling for the General Election.

As a reminder the school day begins at 8.30am and for safety reasons the gates need to be shut by 8.55am. In the mornings the children need to walk through the main gate and enter through the Reception area doors.  If you arrive after the gate has closed, you will need to enter the main office where you will be recorded as late. At 3.00pm Gate 1 will be open for parents and the children will be released through the Reception area doors.

School Uniform Reminder -

Please be reminded that children are expected to continue to wear the appropriate uniform of:

  • Black or grey trousers (Joggers in Nursery)
  • White polo shirt with a bottle green jumper or cardigan
  • Black shoes or plain black trainers (no boots)
  • Black or grey skirt/dress
  • Plain tights

Children will not be permitted to wear Hoodies.

Only plain school coloured head bands can be worn- no oversized bows.

Only studs can we worn in school, please make sure these are removed for PE.

Please ensure children do not have makeup on or acrylic/painted nails.

Uniform will be given to those children who do not wear the correct uniform in the morning and will need to be returned before the end of school.

We thank you again for your understanding and cooperation in leaving pushchairs at the door. Some of our children are asking to come into school independently and we appreciate you encouraging your child to with this.

As we have learnt all of our set 1 sounds, this week we will be consolidating our learning, practising correct letter formation and continuing to use our Fred talk to spell CVC words.

Our focus in maths this week we will be continuing to look at early addition work. The children will be putting 2 groups together and finding out what the total is. This will be done very practically so the children can see that by adding together you make more.

Your child will continue to bring home a reading book (which is changed weekly) and a set of sight words. The expectation is your child reads at least 3 times or more each week. As we are promoting a love of reading, we encourage your child to read a range of books and is not limited to the one we send home with them.

We will be using the Havering school menu which the children bought home. This week we are on Week 1 of the menu. Monday’s choices are:
Red - Pork Sausages with Mash Potato

Blue - Ravioli Pasta (VE)

Green - Vegetable Fingers with Mash Potato

Here is a link to the menu choices htps://www.haveringcatering.co.uk/schooldata/mead-infant-primary-school/

This week our PPA session will be on Tuesday. Please ensure the children have their P.E kit in school.

Messages –
  • PLEASE NAME all items of clothing. This will help when returning lost items, particularly jumpers and cardigans with the right child.
  • If your child has had any clothes from school could you please ensure these are washed and returned to back.
  • Our PE day is Thursday. Please ensure your child has a named PE kit in school. If they wear earrings they need to be removed on this day.
  •  Thank you to all those parents who have sent in a named set of spare clothes. If you haven’t yet could you please ensure your child has a named set of spare clothes and underwear on their peg as soon as possible.
  •  Children can also bring in a pair of named wellies to leave in school. This would be great for use in the mud kitchen and on rainy days.
  •   If your child suffers with asthma please ensure their pump is in school and you have completed the relevant paperwork at the main office.
  •  If your child is unwell, please remember to call the school office on 01708 343616 and notify them of your child's absence.

Breakfast club is open from 7.45 am. Please make sure there is sufficient money on your child's sQuid account to make payment.
