Reception make rockets with rubbish!

This week Reception have been building models out of junk kindly donated by our parents. Junk modelling led to lots of wonderful opportunities to talk about 3D shapes as well as allowing the children to use their creativity. As we have been learning about Bonfire Night many children took the opportunity to make rockets using plastic bottles and boxes, but we also saw lots of other ideas: Tyler made a ‘jet pack,’ and Mickey-Ray made a set of binoculars! Afterwards we talked about their models and shared some of their creations as a class.

Towards the end of the week Reception continued the Bonfire Night theme by making some edible sparklers, dipping them in sprinkles. The children loved mixing the chocolate and taking their crunchy creations home!
