What an exciting week we have had in
Reception! Our topic this term is Celebrations and Patterns and we have been learning about the Hindu celebration ‘Diwali’ which means festival of light.
The children were shown the story of
Rama and Sita and how good triumphs over evil. We got to create our own rangoli
and mehndi patterns, make diva lamps ou of playdough and to finish off our learning we tasted some Indian food.
All of the children 'had a go' at
experimenting with the different tastes and were able to talk about what they
liked and disliked. “I like the rice, it
tastes nice” Scarlett, “I liked the
dip” Nevaeh. Benjamin commented“I like spicy foods". Amaliah was even heard asking for seconds of the vegetable samosas.
We took a vote and poppadoms proved
the most popular, with lots of children asking for seconds and clean plates being left!
