The B Word

Dealing with Bullies

To coincide with Anti-Bullying week the children in Years 2-6 were given the opportunity to watch a performance by Firehorse Productions about the effects of bullying in school. The children were captivated throughout the performance by the three amazing actors. The storyline dealt with verbal and cyberbullying and its effects on children. Happily, the story ended with the bully, his friend and the victim becoming friends. The story line was delivered in a sensitive yet upbeat way with some humour and audience participation. The children learnt, amongst other things, that bullies are cowards so it's best to ignore them, don't retaliate and tell a grown up.

The message of the story was to underline that no child deserves to be bullied and to encourage children not to tolerate such behaviour from their peers.

Anti-bullying week is 13th - 17th November 2017
The theme this year is All Different, All Equal.
