Forest School Sessions

Children have been thoroughly enjoying Forest School sessions since returning after half term. Here is what they have been up to:

Week 6:
Water fun today as shelters were built put to the test. The groups worked well together and are really developing their communication skills. Several triangular shelters worked well to drain the water away. One group tried to plug a gap in the roof with a pile of leaves. It was an inventive idea but did leave them a little on the wet side, although they didn’t seem to mind!!

Week 7:
Resilience was put to the test today as the children embraced their first attempt at fire lighting. Many of them persisted for the majority of the session! Others spent time creating a bridge which again took lots of resilience and determination. Amazing trust was also on show as the children guided each other along the blindfold trail.

Week 8:
Creating woodland candles using a range of tools saw great concentration and care from the children, followed by amazing smiles as they admired their handy work! Others experimented with string and natural materials making a ladder and a limbo stick among other things. Lots of climbing and exploration filled the rest of the session. We closed as the children reflected on the session by encouraging something positive they had witnessed in their peers.
