Royal Acadmy School of Art Summer Exhibition

On Tuesday, a group of excited year 5 children visited the Royal Academy's 249th Summer Exhibition in its impressive galleries on Piccadilly in London. It is the largest open contemporary art exhibition in the world, drawing together a wide range of new work by established and emerging artists. The children were able to view more than 1200 pieces of art ranging from architectural designs to abstract paintings. Many of the works of art were for sale and prices ranged from £25 to £200,000!  Using their powers of observation the children tracked down works of art from a picture of a tiny section of them and then described them in their own words. Some of the vocabulary that came to the children included impressive, retro, fascinating, bold, weird, scary and ..
abnormal!
