In DT, Year 4 are going to be using a 2D design to create a 3D product. They will join shapes together using a simple stitch to create product for an intended purpose and user. At the end of the unit, they should have a 3D product in their hand that looks just like their 2D design.
On Saturday 10th February, it is the Chinese New Year. 2024 is the year of the Dragon! Year 4 are going to create dragon squishy toys. We have chosen a dragon to celebrate the Chinese New Year - this is the purpose of their product. First of all, Year 4 had to design their products. Here are some of their designs.
The follwing lesson, they started to make them. They had to draw a template onto felt, cut them out and then use a running stitch to join the two pieces together. Finally, they will need to stuff them. They worked well to create their squishy dragon toy.
