Weekly Newsletter- 13/05/22- Important Information

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been a very busy week in school this week. Year 3 have enjoyed an Ancient Egyptian workshop, Year 1 have been creative making their clay animals and there have been a huge amount of children completing their achievement trackers for their wonderful work in school and at home. Year 6 have completed their SAT’s tests and have worked hard to achieve their absolute best. We are really proud of how they have approached each day with perseverance and determination.

Parent Partnership Morning

We look forward to welcoming you to our Parent Partnership Morning next Wednesday (18th May) @9am. Refreshments will be available from 8:45am and it would be lovely to see as many parents and carers as possible. We will be discussing changes to School Uniform and Homework but there will also be staff on hand to answer any questions that you may have. If you have any queries specifically regarding your own child/ren, please contact a member of staff to discuss in advance of this meeting. We hope that you can join us!

School Trips and Visits

Many of you will already be aware that Year Groups have organised school trips and visits during Summer term. When offering trips we always ask for a voluntary contribution to allow the visits to go ahead. In all cases the school supplements each trip to lower the cost as much as possible. We recognise that the rising cost of living may make the additional expense of the trip difficult for families. We are looking at ways to further supplement trips and visits in the future. At present we are able to offer confidential financial assistance to parents and carers who are eligible for Pupil Premium. If you would like to discuss this further please ask the office to speak to Ms Holmes or a chosen member of staff you feel most comfortable speaking with. All conversations and support will remain confidential.

Social Media

There has been an increase in incidents regarding the use of social media outside of school that are having to be dealt with in the school day which is having an impact on learning time. Please can we ask that you monitor the use of social media and discuss the dangers of sharing and sending inappropriate and offensive content with your child/ren.

Staffing Changes in Year 3- Scotland

Since returning from the Easter holiday Miss Galpin and Mrs Hillyear have assumed responsibility for Scotland class (Year 3). Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, Mrs Hillyear has been absent from school. To ensure that the children have as much consistency as possible, Mrs Boateng will take responsibility for Scotland class alongside Miss Galpin. Mrs Boateng has previously been working in Year 6 and is very excited about the new challenge in Year 3. Thank you for your understanding.

School Holiday Meal Scheme

With funding from the Household Support Fund, Havering Local Authority will continue the School Holiday Meal Scheme for the May 2022 half-term school break. The scheme allows eligible families to receive £15 per child to purchase food over the holiday period to replace the meals a child would have received during a school day helping us ensure no child goes hungry during the upcoming school holiday period. Please note that we issue this amount via a bank transfer and do not issue meal vouchers as part of the scheme. You do not need to reapply if you have received money via the scheme previously. The funds will be automatically paid into your nominated bank account during the week commencing Monday 23 May 2022. To check your eligibility and apply use this link
