Weekly Newsletter - 06/05/22- Important Information

Dear Parents and Carers,

O2 Young Voices

“ That was the best experience of my life”- Year 5 pupil

A huge well done to all of the children in KS2 who participated in the O2 Young Voices concert on Wednesday evening. It really is a wonderful experience for the children and we look forward to next year. A special thank you to Mrs Porter, Mrs Knight, Mrs Medhurst and Mrs Tull for accompanying the children and of course a huge thank you to Mrs Kumszcynska organising and preparing the children so beautifully for the experience.

Thank you to all of the parents and carers who supported the children and waited for them to arrive safely back at school a lot later than expected. We will make sure that any additional photographs from the evening are posted on the blog for you to enjoy.

Year 6 SAT’s Week

Next week Year 6 will sit their SAT’s tests (Monday-Thursday). We know that the children will do the best that they possibly can do. In preparation for the SAT’s tests, we are inviting all year 6 pupils to arrive in school from 8am to enjoy breakfast on the test days.

Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

We will be celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee throughout the week of the 23rd May. Each Year Group will focus on a different decade of the Queen's reign. On Friday 27th May, we will hold a school Tea Party for all of the children to enjoy and to mark the special occasion. Further details will follow from the individual Year Group.

School Holiday Meal Scheme

With funding from the Household Support Fund, Havering Local Authority will continue the School Holiday Meal Scheme for the May 2022 half-term school break. The scheme allows eligible families to receive £15 per child to purchase food over the holiday period to replace the meals a child would have received during a school day helping us ensure no child goes hungry during the upcoming school holiday period. Please note that we issue this amount via a bank transfer and do not issue meal vouchers as part of the scheme. You do not need to reapply if you have received money via the scheme previously. The funds will be automatically paid into your nominated bank account during the week commencing Monday 23 May 2022. To check your eligibility and apply use this link

Absence Reporting

It is extremely important that the office is made aware of any pupil absences on the day of the absence. You can phone the school office and report an absence on the Absence Hotline, email mail@mead.havering.sch.uk or report via the school website Reporting Absence. When absence isn’t reported or when additional information is needed Mrs Adams will make contact with you by telephone. Where contact cannot be made, home visits may take place. Any holiday requests must be completed on a request form which is available at the office.
