Staying Safe Online

We know that when used correctly technology has an important part to play in education. However, there has recently been a lot of media coverage regarding unsuitable material that is circulating around many social media outlets. We speak to pupils frequently in school about staying safe online and ensure that they know how to report upsetting or inappropriate activity online. It is also important that we remind parents and carers regularly about parental controls, age limits and appropriate supervision of children online. Keeping in touch with your children about: what they are watching; why they are watching it; how it makes them feel; and what to do if they are worried or upset by anything they come across on-line are great ways of opening up a positive dialogue around the use of social media and computer games.
