Parents/Carers
We hope you are all having a lovely weekend so far. We would like to extend our thanks for all of your donations towards our Harvest Festival, your donations were greatly received by the food bank.
The children thoroughly enjoyed our learning about Diwali last week and impressed us all with how they expanded their taste buds by trying the different foods. We are continuing our topic of "Celebrations and patterns" by learning about Guy Fawkes, the history of firework night and firework safety. As part of our learning the children will be given the opportunity to make their own firework models and create editable firework sparklers and rockets.
As a reminder the school day begins at
8.30am and for safety reasons the gates need to be shut by 8.55am. In the
mornings the children need to walk through the main gate and enter through the
Reception area doors. If you arrive after the gate has closed, you
will need to enter the main office where you will be recorded as late. At
3.00pm Gate 1 will be open for parents and the children will be released
through the Reception area doors.
We thank you again for your understanding and
cooperation in leaving pushchairs at the door.
We will continue with our phonics programme,
teaching the sounds l,h,r,j. At the end of the week the children will bring
some practise formation sheets. Please try and make some time to help your
child with this formation. Learning to write is a tricky skill but an important
one.
This week in maths we will be continuing our teaching and learning
about 3D shapes. The children will have an opportunity to make their own 3D
models. If you have any junk modelling materials, we would greatly appreciate
these being brought into school as the children will use these to make their
own firework models.
Your child will continue to bring home a reading
book (which is changed weekly) and a set of sight words. The expectation is
your child reads at least 3 times or more each week. As we are promoting a love
of reading we encourage your child to read a range of books and is not limited
to the one we send home with them.
Reminders
Pudsey
will be visiting us this Wednesday. Please remember to bring any money
in a named envelope and hand to your child's class teacher.
Poppy merchandise is continuing to be sold, please remember to put your child's money in a named envelope.
There
have been a few forms sent out and we are still waiting for
parents/carers to return them. Please return them this week:
Dental forms
Nhs form
Flu Vaccination form
This
Thursday we will be holding our monthly stay and read sessions,
followed by our reading workshop. We hope to see as many of you there as
possible.
We will be using the new Havering school menu which
the children bought home before half term. We are on Week 2 of
this menu. Monday’s choices are:
Red - Beef Burger in a Bun with Potato Curls
Blue - Cheesy Tomato Pasta
Green - Quorn Burger in a Bun with Potato Curls
Here is a
link to the menu choices https://www.haveringcatering.co.uk/schooldata/mead-infant-primary-school/
On Thursdays we have our weekly P.E session.
Please ensure your child’s P.E kit is returned to school and is clearly
labelled. Children are starting to change for their PE sessions, as you
can imagine this is currently taking quite a while so all you can do to help
your child be independent in dressing is greatly appreciated.

- If your child has had any clothes from school could you please ensure these are washed and returned to back.
- Our PE day is Thursday. Please ensure your child has a named PE kit in school. If they wear earrings they need to be removed on this day.
