Dear
Parents/Carers
We hope
you are all having a lovely weekend so far. We had such a busy week at school
last week with our Remembrance Day service, friendship workshop, world kindness
day and celebrating Children in need.
This week
our focus will be “Aliens love underpants”, the children will get to
dive into their imaginations creating their very own aliens in the malleable
and creative area. They will then use their phonic knowledge to create an alien
profile.
As a
reminder the school day begins at 8.30am and for safety reasons the gates need
to be shut by 8.55am. In the mornings the children need to walk through the
main gate and enter through the Reception area doors. If you arrive
after the gate has closed, you will need to enter the main office where you
will be recorded as late. At 3.00pm Gate 1 will be open for parents and the
children will be released through the Reception area doors.
School
Uniform Reminder - http://www.haveringschoolwear.co.uk/Find-Your-School/Mead-Primary-School/
Please be
reminded that children are expected to continue to wear the appropriate uniform
of:
- Black or grey trousers (Joggers in Nursery)
- White polo shirt with a bottle green jumper or cardigan
- Black shoes or plain black trainers (no boots)
- Black or grey skirt/dress
- Plain tights
Children will
not be permitted to wear Hoodies.
Only
plain school coloured head bands can be worn- no oversized bows.
Only
studs can we worn in school, please make sure these are removed for PE.
Please
ensure children do not have makeup on or acrylic/painted nails.
Uniform
will be given to those children who do not wear the correct uniform in the
morning and will need to be returned before the end of school.
We thank
you again for your understanding and cooperation in leaving pushchairs at the
door. Some of our children are asking to come into school independently and we
appreciate you encouraging your child to with this.
We will
continue with our phonics programme, teaching the sounds th, z, ch, qu. At the end of the week the
children will bring some practise formation sheets. Please try and make some
time to help your child with this formation. Learning to write is a tricky
skill but an important one.
Our focus
in maths this week we will be looking at weight, using the language of heaviest/lightest
as well as identifying money and using the language related to money.
Your child will continue to bring home a reading
book (which is changed weekly) and a set of sight words. The expectation is your
child reads at least 3 times or more each week. As we are promoting a love of reading,
we encourage your child to read a range of books and is not limited to the one
we send home with them. Well done to Barbados class who won the reading award
again this week.
Reminders
There
have been a few reminder forms sent out and we are still waiting for parents/carers
to return them. Please return them this week:
Dental
forms
NHS form
Flu
Vaccination form
Please remember
to leave any letters in the trays outside your child’s class.
We will
be using the Havering school menu which the children bought home. This week we
are on Week 1 of the menu. Monday’s choices are:
Red - Pork Sausages with Mash Potato
Blue - Ravioli Pasta (VE)
Green - Vegetable Fingers with Mash Potato
Here is a
link to the menu choices https://www.haveringcatering.co.uk/schooldata/mead-infant-primary-school/
On Thursdays we have our weekly P.E session. Please ensure
your child’s P.E kit is returned to school and is clearly labelled.
Children are starting to change for their PE sessions, as you can imagine this
is currently taking quite a while so all you can do to help your child be
independent in dressing is greatly appreciated.
Messages
–
- PLEASE NAME all items of clothing. This will help when returning lost items, particularly jumpers and cardigans with the right child.
- If your child has had any clothes from school could you please ensure these are washed and returned to back.
- Our PE day is Thursday. Please ensure your child has a named PE kit in school. If they wear earrings they need to be removed on this day.
- Thank you to all those parents who have sent in a named set of spare clothes. If you haven’t yet could you please ensure your child has a named set of spare clothes and underwear on their peg as soon as possible.
- Children can also bring in a pair of named wellies to leave in school. This would be great for use in the mud kitchen and on rainy days.
- If your child suffers with asthma please ensure their pump is in school and you have completed the relevant paperwork at the main office.
- If your child is unwell, please remember to call the school office on 01708 343616 and notify them of your child's absence.
Breakfast
club is open from 7.45 am. Please make sure there is sufficient money on your
child's sQuid account to make payment.
