Dear Parents and Carers,
It is hard to believe that we are already at the end of the first half of the Spring term. Thank you to everyone who dressed up in bright and colourful clothes to celebrate Ms Wolf today. Everyone looked fantastic and the day was very special to remember her.
The children return to school on Monday 26th February, we look forward to seeing you all then. Please remember that Parents Evening will also take place on the first week back. If you need a reminder of your time, please speak directly to the class teacher. Have a wonderful half term
Showcase and Stay and Learn session
We are looking forward to inviting you to share in your child's learning through the stay and learn or showcase sessions that are coming up soon. These sessions aim to share the learning that has been taking place over this term and also share ideas and tips for how you can support your child at home. Please see below the dates and times. We look forward to seeing you!
After half term we are saying goodbye and good luck to Mrs Medhurst who has been at Mead for 17 years. During this time Mrs Medhurst has supported 100’s of children and worked across the whole of the school. We will miss her artistic skills and great sense of humour! We wish her the best of luck in her new adventure.
We also say goodbye to Mrs Das who starts a new job in a different sector after half term. Thank you for the work that you have put in to support the children across the school. We wish you all the very best of luck in your new job.
Havering Consultation
Havering Council is aiming to eradicate childhood obesity in 20 years and is asking for residents' views on plans to do this. The Council has been working in partnership with over 25 local organisations to develop a strategy to address obesity in Havering. Havering has high rates of childhood and adulthood obesity which is causing ill health and cutting lives short.
The strategy acknowledges that the causes of obesity are complex and that there is no single cause of obesity. The places we live, work and play have a huge impact on what and how much we eat and how physically active we are. This is why the Council, working alongside partners, such as the NHS, believes that working to make healthier choices will help residents to live a healthier and longer life. The strategy proposes to work collaboratively with professionals and residents to make the borough a healthier place for people to live, work and play. We want to hear residents’ views on the proposals to tackle obesity over the next five years.
Your views will help to shape the strategic approach and refine the actions taken to achieve the vision of eradicating childhood obesity in 20 years. All responses to this consultation are welcomed and will be fully considered before the plan is implemented. Online Survey
Parents Evening
Parents evening will take place the first week back after half term on Tuesday 27th February and Wednesday 28th February. The days and times that you have already booked will stay the same. If you cannot make those dates and times then please speak to the class teacher directly.
World Book Day
As part of our drive to maintain, promote and engage pupil interest in reading, the school is taking part in WORLD BOOK day on Thursday 7th March. Children are asked to come into school dressed as their favourite book character. You can join us in building your child’s enthusiasm for books well beyond World Book Day by reading together regularly and joining your local library if you are not yet a member.
