The Rainforest Comes to Mead!

Yesterday afternoon, Year 4 pupils at Mead were treated to a visit from Jungle Jo - an expert in animals from the Amazonian rainforest. She arrived with a number of fantastic live creatures...

Bobby and Charlie were excited to hold a Giant African Snail from the African Rainforest while Teddy, Deon and Wahab were holding a baby Colossobolus Millipede from Madagascan Rainforest.

"The snail was so slimy and soft!" exclaimed Bobby.

Next up was a frog from the Cloud Rainforest in China which climbed up the wall and also 'waved' back to Evita. The children got to hold a Giant Gecko from the Caledonian Forest. Then appeared a girl Tarantula from the Mexican Rainforest which unlike Miss Spinks, Eemani was brave enough to hold.

Eemani said "It was really scary because I don't like spiders." She also went on to say "Miss also showed me where the web comes out from the spider which I thought was really interesting!"

Finally, Ryan, Frankie and George held a Python from the African Rainforest.

All the children in Year Four were able to take part and hold the various rainforest animals. They were all thrilled by our visitor and gained much content knowledge that will be built on this term for our topic on The Rainforest.
