Weekly Newsletter - Important Information
Friday 14th March 2025
Dear parents and Carers,
Despite the return of the cold weather, it has been an action-packed week at Mead. Year 1 and 2 had a fantastic time on their trip to the cinema. Year 4 visited the Upminster Windmill and were praised by the tour guides for their excellent behaviour and engagement during the day. Year 3 had the pleasure of taking part in a gospel singing workshop, and they made us all proud by performing for their parents and carers at the end of the day.
Today we had the Science Week Roadshow for the children to visit and see the Science projects that their peers had created. We have been absolutely blown away by the effort, care and time that the children have put into these projects- the judges are going to have a tough job of selecting the winning entries!
Emergency Procedures
You may have heard that Drapers’ Academy received information about a possible threat yesterday and acted accordingly. However, Mead was not officially informed of this threat. As soon as we became aware of the situation, we immediately sought clarification from the Metropolitan Police, who confirmed that there was no threat to our school or the local community. This decision was made within 10 minutes of our inquiry.
This is not the first instance where we have sought immediate clarification in response to potential concerns, and we want to reassure you that we will always act in the best interests and safety of all children and our community. While a lockdown was not necessary in this instance, we continually review our emergency procedures to ensure we are fully prepared for any situation. Communication with parents and carers is a crucial part of our emergency procedures. We will always ensure that you are informed, reassured and aware of any necessary actions should we need to initiate these procedures.
Lunchtimes
You may have heard from your children that we are enhancing our school lunchtime activities by introducing a wider variety of sports and creative play options. As part of this, we have reduced the number of footballs on the playground to make space for new opportunities. While this has been an adjustment for some pupils, it has been wonderful to see them exploring and enjoying different activities, such as loom bands, train sets, block building, giant Connect Four, basketball, computing club, and calm club. We are excited to continue expanding our lunchtime provision, offering even more activities to engage and inspire our students. Our Pupil Parliament is actively gathering feedback from their peers to ensure the activities reflect their interests and needs.
