Active listening to music

This week children in year 3 were looking at the structure of musical composition. They listened to a very famous tune called ‘’William Tell overture’’ composed by Rossini and had to analyse its structure by listening to changes in rhythm, tonality, tempo and dynamics. They found out that the piece had more than one section and the main theme of the composition was coming back. The children enjoyed playing rhythmic ostinato to music using percussion instruments.
