Newsletter - 29/09/23

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been another action packed week at Mead. Year 5 have been developing their bike ability and gaining more confidence to ride their bikes safely. We also welcomed Rosie, our schools Read, Write, Inc Trainer into school this week and she was astonished by how well the children have settled into their phonics groups, including our new reception classes. She couldn’t believe the progress the children had made since she last saw them in the Summer term. Well done everyone!

It has been wonderful to see so many children scooting to school, we have noticed how busy the KS1 bike and scooter park is getting, so please make sure you park up safely. We are looking into getting another scooter park so that there is space for everyone. Please make sure that you walk with your scooter as you come on to the school grounds so that everyone stays safe.

Safer Street Scheme

At this time we still have no further information to share and are awaiting a response from the Council. We have been assured that as soon as the final process is completed they will provide a letter for all parents to confirm the details and start dates. We will circulate any information to parents as soon as it is received. Thank you for your patience.

Reception Open Days

Please book through the school website. The link can be found on the bottom of the home page

Holiday Requests

We have seen an increase in Leave of Absence requests for holidays. The DfE and Local Authority have made it clear that we are no longer able to grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. Mead Primary School will consider each request for leave of absence carefully and individually to determine its authorisation, but please remember leave is not an entitlement. Requests should be made by the parent/carer and forwarded to the Headteacher before the period of absence. Please note that all absences of 4 days or more may require medical evidence (eg copies of prescription, hospital letters, medication, etc.). Any unauthorised periods of absence may result in a penalty notice of £60 (which will increase to £120 if not paid within 21 days) for each child and imposed on each parent.
