Weekly Newletter - 07/01/2022- Important Information

Dear Parents and Carers,

Happy New Year to you all! It has been lovely to welcome the children back to school this week and hear all about their Christmas break.

Wearing of Jewellery and Make up

It has been noticed particularly in KS2, that children have returned to school wearing nail varnish, false or acrylic nails and jewellery which is not in line with our school policy. It is the policy of the Governing Body of Mead Primary School to discourage the wearing of jewellery by pupils of the school on the grounds of health and safety and because it does not accord with the school’s ethos or image. Please see below for your information.

Watches

This is with the exception of a small, inexpensive wristwatch (watches should not have the capacity to make/receive phone calls or texts or have access to the internet).

Earrings

Children may wear one pair of small, stud earrings which must be worn in the lower ear lobe. All studs must be removed for PE by the child or taken out at home. Stud earrings that cannot be removed by the pupil for PE lessons will be covered with a plaster or tape. Please note that the school will be unable to take any responsibility for any watches or jewellery that are lost.

Should a pupil need to wear jewellery for religious or medical reasons, parents and carers must seek permission by way of a letter or email to the Head of School.

Nail Varnish/Make-up

The wearing of nail varnish, acrylic nails, gel nails or other cosmetic make-up is not allowed unless it is part of a special day which had been arranged by the school. Parents will be written to when this is the case.

Nail varnish and false/acrylic nails should be removed over the weekend, before returning to school on Monday.

School Ping

Thank you for supporting our move to School Ping. Already we have over 90% of our school community who have accessed the website or downloaded the app. We are sure that this will continue to improve our communication with parents and carers. Once you have downloaded the app you will have access to school information at your fingertips. We will start to use School Ping to share school information, letters and club details via the calendar. Should you need any support please contact the school office.

Young Voices

As you know, the organisers of Young Voices have made the decision to postpone the Young Voices concert. We are awaiting further information about when the concert will take place and what will happen if tickets have already been booked and paid for. Mrs Kumszczynska is in contact with the Young Voices team and will share any information with you once this has been received. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
