Year 3 Colchester Zoo Trip

Year 3's enjoyed a fantastic trip to Colchester Zoo on Wednesday.
We spent the whole day seeing and interacting with many different creatures including watching a birds of prey show called, 'Masters of the Sky'.

A favourite for many was the brand new chimpanzee enclosure, as many of the chimps were swinging around for us to see!

Here are some pictures from Wales class!

Year 4 showcase afternoon

Coding with 'Espresso' software
Medusa hats

Tuesday afternoon saw the Year 4 showcase to parents. The children were able to demonstrate some of the activities that they had participated in during the year. Included among the activities were maths problems, build a sentence activities and some estimating with weights and measures. The children loved to demonstrate their chromatography activity, becoming a detective to find out who the murderer was, by analysing ink samples. The Ancient Greece topic was very popular as the children demonstrated how to make a Medusa hat and mask. The parents were also taught how to code, using Espresso software, by their children.

The children were very excited and the parents very impressed, with feedback such as, 'It is lovely to be able to see what my child learns at school.' and 'I have enjoyed working with my child today.'

Year 1 Sports Day

On a bright sunny afternoon the Year 1 children made their way out onto the field.  They had lots of fun taking part in the exciting activities set up for them by Mr Stanbridge and Mr Robinson.  As they made their way around the activities, such as javelin throw, under and over and penalty shoot out, they collected points for their house teams. The winning team will be announced on Friday.  Who will it be?!

Thank you to everyone that attended our Graduation ceremony today. The children sang so beautifully and really enjoyed performing to you. It is lovely to have support from our parents on days like this and it means alot that many of you took time out of work to support us.

Friday 14th
Friday is a normal day at Nursery. The children need to attend school normal times in their school uniform. If you did not hand in your trip form this will be your child's last day!

Monday 17th
Barleylands trip- If you have handed your form in your child will be attending the trip. All children (morning and afternoon) need to be at Nursery by 8.30am at the latest. The coach will be leaving as soon as we have organised the children. If you are not here on time and the coach leaves your child will have to be taken home.

Please come to school in school uniform and children need a packed lunch in a plastic bag with their name on. This will be thrown away once children have eaten lunch so they are not carrying lunch boxes all day. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather and the farm. If the weather is warm please make sure children have sun cream applied before school. Sensible shoes and socks must be worn as there is play equipment on site. Children may only bring what they can carry for the day. Please do not give children money for gifts.
