Weekly Newsletter - 18.09.2020

 Dear Parents,

Thank you to each and every one of you for your patience and support during what has been a stressful start to the new academic year. I want to assure you that the health and safety of your children, your families and my staff remain my main priority and we are adhering to the guidelines provided by the DfE and the Government to ensure measures are put in place to ensure this remains the case.

It has been wonderful to witness how quickly the children have settled back into the ‘new’ school routines after their extended break and this week it’s been a pleasure to welcome our new Reception pupils.

We have staggered start and finish times to ensure parents/carers are able to maintain social distancing and keep safe. Please ensure you check your child’s year group drop off/collection time and keep to it-Thank you.

I have had communication from a neighbour who is concerned that cars are regularly parked across her drive -so preventing her accessing her property-PLEASE DO NOT PARK ACROSS OUR NEIGHBOURS DRIVES.

Pupils should not be bringing rucksacks/bags into school. They are provided with all the stationary equipment they need so just need lunch boxes/disposable bags (if having packed lunch) and water bottles please.

Coronavirus
Please be aware that if your child or someone in your household develops coronavirus symptoms then you MUST telephone the school office immediately, keep your child off school and book in for a test. You can find information regarding symptoms from the NHS here. We will then discuss with you what happens next.

Year 6 Parents

As your child is in Year 6, you will need to make an application for him/her to start secondary school in September 2021. Without an application your child will not be offered a Secondary school place.

Please visit the Havering website www.havering.gov.uk/admissions/secondary where you will find a brochure titled  ‘Transferring to a Havering Secondary School in September 2021’ along with a short presentation video which explains the application process and answers some of the most common questions asked by parents. You will also find a link to the application system (eAdmissions).

To ensure that you gain a clear understanding of the process we urge you to view these resources before you make any application.

If after reading the brochure and watching the video you have any further questions, please email the school admissions team via schooladmissions@havering.gov.uk or call the team on 01708 434600.

All applications for Secondary Schools must be submitted online by no later than 31 October 2020.

Attendance

Attendance this week was 91%, which is well below our target, but I appreciate in these unprecedented times we are all being very careful to protect ourselves and each other during this awful pandemic.

Please be reminded pupils can come to school with common colds, but not if they have a temperature or persistent cough.
