Weekly Newsletter
15th September 2017
Dear Parents,
PLEASE BE REMINDED MONDAY 18TH SEPTEMBER IS AN INSET DAY-SCHOOL IS CLOSED FOR PUPILS
It is really pleasing to see how well our reception children have settled in their first week at Mead. They are only attending for half a day these first 2 weeks -but so far so good!
Our nursery children have been to stay and play sessions where they have had the opportunity to get to know the practitioners in our nursery setting in preparation for their start in the near future. With the increase in demand for nursery places we are now doubling our intake and to accommodate this the nursery building is being extended-we are hopeful the works will be completed by Easter. In the meantime the nursery has been relocated in the first two classrooms along the KS1 corridor.
We were very excited to take delivery of more animals for the Mead Farm. We now have 3 goats-twin boys who were born in the spring and their sister who was born the year before. They are all really tame and love being petted. The outdoor classroom has now been erected and we are looking forward to introducing them to the children. Look out for details of a competition to name the goats.
Parents Forum
We will be delighted to welcome you to the first parents forum meeting of the year on Tuesday 19th September at 9:15 in the KS2 hall.
Havering Catering Services
Week beginning 18th September is week 1 on the Havering Catering Services menu. The price of a meal at lunchtime is £2.20.
School Dinners & sQuid
Please be reminded that KS2 pupils are not eligible for free school meals. When pupils move into year 3 you are required to pay for the children’s dinners unless you qualify for free school meals, in which case you need to put in an application to:
Student Finance, The Liberty Centre, Romford, RM1 3RL. Tele no. 01708 433929/53,
Broadford Primary School is now a cashless school. All dinners, breakfast club and trips need to be paid for through the sQuid system.
Parents/Carers should register, for each child and deposit the money to pay for lunch and trips via the online system. Everyone must register for an account even if your child receives a free school meal. If you have difficulties setting up or accessing your account Mrs Taylor and Mrs West in the office are more than happy to help you.
Uniform
Thank you for the effort you put into your children’s appearance this week. It was a wonderful sea of bottle green jumpers that greeted us at the gate on Tuesday morning. All of the children seemed to be walking that little bit taller and feeling very proud as they started the new academic year. With the smart shoes, fabulous haircuts and bright smiles it was a great start to the term!
The contact details for uniform suppliers are:
