Mead Reception Newsletter 24/09/2017

Term: Autumn 1                      Date: 24.09.17

Dear Parents,

We have had a super start to school life with the children settling into Mead really well.
Thank you to all parents and carers for your support during this induction period. The children will now be attending school full time with the new school day being 8.30-8.45 start with a 3.00 collection time. In the mornings the children need to walk through the main gate and enter through the Reception area doors. At 3.00 Gate 3 is also open for parents and the children will be released through the Reception area doors.

Each week we will provide you with a newsletter.  The purpose of this newsletter is to keep you up to date with any relevant news in Reception.  It will include a list of intended learning objectives, an overview of activities, the learning challenge (which we will not commence until the second part of the Autumn term), notices, important dates and the stories and topics that we will be focussing on.
We hope you had a chance to look at our starting school blogs which appeared on the mead blog page and on facebook .

The learning objectives will be listed under these headings:

Personal, Social and Emotional

Can select and use activities and resources with help
Shows confidence in asking adults for help

Communication and Language
To follow directions
To use talk to connect ideas

Literacy
To sometimes give meanings to the marks they draw and paint
Listens to and joins in with stories

Physical Development:

Mounts stairs, steps or climbing equipment

Mathematics
Beginning to recite numbers in order to 10
Knows that numbers identify how many objects are in a set

This newsletter will be posted on our EYFS blog and facebook page at the beginning of each week.

      Messages.
With the weather changing it would be really useful if the children had a pair of wellington boots in school and also a spare pair of clothes.

Rewards Strategies
Just so you are aware we follow a whole school approach to behaviour management, incorporating the 4 R’s which can be found on the school website along with the values.  To ensure the system is age appropriate we use a happy and sad face within the Early Years.  To ensure a close partnership we will work with you if your child keeps finding their name on the red face.
