Last adventure in the forest

It was a lovely day for Barbados classes last forest school of the year.

We threaded chocolate chip bread and fruit onto skewers to toast over the fire. Rebecca commented that the fire looked like "a fire dragon". We listened carefully to the sounds of the fire and some children were heard recalling our "Popcorn" poem from our poetry basket sessions.

We went bug hunting and found lots of minibeasts including caterpillars and froghoppers.

We finished off with a whole class picture with the hammock and thought about our favourite activities at forest school and how the woodland has changed over the year.

Well done Barbados class

Eggscellent skills!

Some children in Year 2 enrolled in the cooking class for University of Mead. In our first week, we needed to establish the rules. We looked at the importance of hygiene and identified any possible dangers we need to be aware of when using certain equipment. Last week, we made some delicious cornflake and biscuits cakes. We learned how to chop, melt and stir. The children enjoyed their first taste of cooking. They can't wait to see what their next cooking task will be this week :)

We are chefs!

Some of the children in years 3 and 4 have been creating some culinary delights this half term on their University of Mead course. Today they made a healthy pasta or rice salad, using ingredients such as peppers, tomatoes, cucumber, sweetcorn and spring onions. I'm sure you'll agree that their salads look delicious.

Scotland Class get crafty

Scotland Class won an Arts and Crafts lesson as a result of beating their attendance target last week. They enjoyed making fans and Pride paperchains. Well done Scotland Class. Keep it up!

Year 3 Superstars

Congratulations to the children below for completing lots of Mathletics activities and reading lots of books at home.

If I were so very small....

This week our poetry basket poem was called "If I were so very small".
Here are our reception children performing their version.
