Year 1 try to beat the World Record!

In literacy Year 1 are looking at Bold Women in Black History to which they are writing a sporting biography on American sprinter Florence Joyner (Flo-Jo). Yesterday the children attempted to beat Flo-Jo's world record of 10.49 seconds in the 100m race. Some of the children were SO close to beating her world record and they are all determined to beat it one day!

Chronology in year 5

To begin our World Wars topic, year 5 took part in a practical chronology lesson. The were given real newspaper reports from World War 1 and they had to use the headlines to work out what happened and when. They discovered that The Great War was very complex and how many countries got involved. By the end of the session they understood what allies are and how effective they can be during battle.
