Maternity Leave

I am sure that it hasn’t escaped your notice that Mrs Leggett (KS2 Assistant Headteacher) is expecting her second child. Mrs Leggett is due to start her Maternity Leave on Tuesday so her final day in school is today! We wish Mrs Leggett and her family all the best for the next step in their exciting journey of becoming a family of 4. We will be sure to update you all as soon as we have any baby news. Congratulations Mrs Leggett!


Parent and Carer Workshop- Citizenship (RSHE)

There will be 2 parent workshops next week (08.05.24) to discuss the teaching of the RSHE curriculum. This will include discussions surrounding what is being taught in citizenship after half term. The same workshop will run twice - one will take place at 9am in the KS2 hall and one will take place at 2:30pm in the KS2 hall. Please come to whichever is most convenient. We look forward to seeing you there!

Uniform Consultation

We are due to review our school uniform policy in readiness for September. There have been a number of requests from parents and carers for the uniform policy to include bottle green polo shirts. Any changes would be phased and we would like you to share your thoughts. Please click on the link below to have your say. The form will be open until Friday 10th May. Attendance Drop in Hub

Are you having trouble getting your children into school? Come along to our Attendance Hub. We hold regular drop in sessions with our Educational Welfare Officer who offers tips and advice on how to overcome this. Our next one is Thursday 16th May at 8:50am. A poem all about caterpillars

This week in reception we have been observing how our caterpillars have been growing and discussing their life cycle. To help with our learning and understanding of the process they go through we learnt a lovely poem called "Caterpillars" during our poetry basket sessions this week.

Palau Forest School

 The grey clouds moved off and the sun came out this afternoon for Palau classes first forest school of the term. 

We looked to see what had changed since we had last been out and noticed that the trees had leaves again and the flowers had grown too. The smell of the cow parsley was all around forest school today.

Then we went for a walk around d the field to look for different coloured plants. 

We did some looking for minibeasts and found lots of different ones. 

Nursery at Forest School

 The sun still wasn't out but it was much warmer for forest school this week. 

We looked at leaves that had been eaten by caterpillars and read about the hungry caterpillar.

We used punches to make holes in leaves like caterpillars.

There were also pirates digging for treasure today using their imagination. 

Year 1 Geo Bus workshop

 

On Monday Year 1 had an exciting virtual workshop. Geo Bus visited year 1 over zoom and taught them all about the planets in the solar system. We learned lots of new exciting facts about each of the planets and discussed why we would not be able to live on any other planet. For example, some are too hot, some are too cold and some are made of gas. As a class we then talked about why our planet is so important and how we need to look after it. As part of the workshop we got to put on our 3D glasses and look at 3D pictures and a 3D video of Mars.
