Weekly Newsletter - Important Information
Friday 29th November 2024
Dear Parents and Carers,
We’ve had a fantastic couple of weeks at Mead, filled with community spirit, generosity, and celebrations. Please take a moment to read through the latest updates and important information about upcoming events.
Fundraising Success!
We are delighted to share that the Friends of Mead have raised over £2,250 through last Friday’s Christmas Fayre. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this fantastic event! This money will directly enhance the resources and experiences available to all our children.
Additionally, the school raised £484.53 for Children in Need 2024, including £197.35 from the sale of Pudsey ears and bears kindly donated by a parent. We deeply appreciate your generosity in making these efforts a success.
Class Parties – Wednesday 18th December
To celebrate the festive season, class parties will be held on Wednesday 18th December. Children are welcome to wear party clothes or their school uniform; however, please ensure that clothing is appropriate—no crop tops or heeled shoes.
We kindly ask for donations of party food such as:
Crisps, biscuits, small cakes, or Iced Gems
Fruit selections, breadsticks, mini sausages, chicken nuggets, or sausage rolls
Important:
All food items must be nut-free and brought in either the day before or on the morning of the party.
Please provide individually wrapped items wherever possible.
For children with dietary requirements, a clearly labeled plate of specific food may be sent.
The school will provide plates, cups, water, and fruit cordial for the event. Thank you for helping us make this day special for the children!
Student Safety: The Student Voice
The London Borough of Havering has launched a partnership with The Student Voice to improve safety for children in our community. Through this project, children can identify areas where they feel unsafe and provide feedback using the Student Voice platform.
Our Year 5 and 6 pupils have started using the platform to share their thoughts on the school and local area. We plan to expand this opportunity to Years 3 and 4 in the new year.
All Mead pupils can access The Student Voice here or via the ‘Pupils’ tab on our school website. Parents will receive updates throughout the year on how these insights are helping to make our community safer.

Support for Parents and Carers
We’re pleased to announce a partnership with Christians Against Poverty (CAP), a charity that has been offering free debt help across the UK for over 25 years. CAP will be working with Mead to provide free and confidential support to families who may need it. More details will be shared in January. In the meantime, please visit the CAP website for further information.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in school life. Your contributions and engagement make a significant difference to our children and community.
Yours Sincerely,
