Year 3's Field Trip

After planning their own investigation question in class the children set off for Central Park to carry out their investigation. Some children wanted to see how many physical and human features they could spot, whilst others looked at the different animal habitats in the park. They worked in pairs and recorded their findings by taking notes and drawing pictures. When all of the hard work was done they got to play in the playground and had great fun. Well done Year Three!

New Zealand Trip to The London Eye

Yesterday New Zealand Class went on their school trip to The London Eye. They enjoyed going on the bus and train to get to our destination. On the London Eye they were excited to spot some of the famous landmarks we had been learning about in our English lessons when reading the story ‘The Queen’s Hat’. Some of the Landmarks we saw includes Big Ben, The House of Parliament, The Shard and St. Paul’s Cathedral. We then enjoyed some lunch in the park opposite the London Eye where we continued to look around at discuss what we can see in London. New Zealand class really enjoyed their trip!

Fun at the farm

What an amazing day the children in Reception had at Old Macdonald's Farm yesterday. After arriving by coach, we were greeted by staff members who kindly showed us around and we got to get up close and personal with some of the farm animals. We met and fed Bacon and Sausage, two pigs who were sisters. We stroked snowy the rabbit, met a tiny hedgehog, got to meet some Shetland ponies and also a multitude of other farm animals. Lunch was not far from our minds and after a little pit stop we had fun rolling down a hill before exploring the different rides. Smiles and shrills of glee were heard coming from the children as they ventured onto the rides and into the soft play area. "This is the best day ever" was heard echoed by many children.

It is safe to say memories were made, laughter was shared and a truly memorable day was had by all!

Havering Music Fstival

Incredible night with incredible children!

On Monday, Mead’s singers represented our school at the Havering Music Festival. This was the first concert organised after a few years and it was an enjoyable experience for the children and the parents.

This year the students sang the song of the 80s and had the opportunity to perform with a live band from the Havering Music School. Our singers sang an iconic song ’’Living on a prayer’’ which was a true hit.

Drum roll for this weeks year 2 Star Writer...

Congratulations to Nathan K from Madagascar, Leo B from Egypt, Kamil from Kenya and Elena and  Manha from Morocco. Amazing efforts this week, well done to you all!

However, this week the amazing writing does not stop there! We also had some children who were also rewarded for their super script writes in their Literacy and Language lessons. They were encouraged to make up their own scripts. Once they had completed those they were then asked to direct and re-enact them. The children took great pride in their work and enjoyed it very much. So well done to Nathan K from Madagascar; Amelia H and Evelyn from Egypt; Manha from Morocco and Sebastian and Zelda from Kenya.

Year 2 Mead University- Art Colour Project

Our project is looking at how art helps support our mental health and well-being. During the sessions so far we have created personalised colour charts then mixed our colours up in a ' colour mixing bowl using different materials.  We have explored what different thoughts and feeling come to mind for each colour and we have done this using stories like Dr Seuss 'My Many coloured Days' and A Colour Monster by Joshua Brooks. All our activities have been done with our favourite music playlist in the background making us smile and feel good.
