Weekly Newsletter- 17/12-21 - Important Information

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have certainly been getting into the Christmas spirit this week. The kitchen staff have cooked over 600 Christmas Dinners which were enjoyed by children and staff. Father Christmas made a surprise appearance and Christmas parties were in full swing yesterday afternoon.

January Return to School

You will be aware that following the move to Plan B, there is currently a lot of speculation regarding the introduction of further measures in response to the growing numbers of positive COVID-19 cases locally and nationally. The DfE have confirmed that there are currently no plans to introduce further measures in education settings, but we know from experience that this position can change at short notice. We are expecting to and are looking forward to welcoming the children back to school on Wednesday 5th January. Should we be made aware of any changes in guidance or measures before returning to school in January, we will keep you informed via email.

The National School Breakfast Programme

After the Christmas break, we will be starting the National School Breakfast programme. The National School Breakfast Programme is funded by the Department for Education and run by Family Action to support schools in England to provide children with a healthy breakfast at the start of the school day. Our school will now be offering breakfast bagels, every morning, in the classroom, from Nursery to Yr6.

Year 2 visit the local library!

Last week Year 2 walked to our local library and thought about how the library is a free resource that we can easily use and enjoy. It is so important to develop the children's Literacy skills and love of reading from an early age and the library can do this.  All the children took home an application form and chose a book to take back to school to enjoy.

Keep reading everyone!

Year 4 Visit the Pantomime!

 Year 4 Pantomime Trip!

Year 4 had a fantastic time visiting Kenneth More Theatre this morning to see their hilarious pantomime performance of Cinderella! The children enjoyed dancing, clapping and singing along to all of the music, seeing a flying pumpkin carriage and even being squirted with a water pistol! The pantomime really helped us get into the festive mood!

An exciting morning at Mead!

The nursery and KS1 children were very excited to see Father Christmas this morning! 🎅🏽🎄😍

A Celebrity in Year Three!

All the students and teachers are excited to share with you that our very own Tommy is appearing on a show on BBC iPlayer, named Teeny Tiny Creatures!

Tommy makes his first (we're sure of many) TV appearance in the episode titled 'Grasshoppers', with Chantelle and Rory.

Tommy shares his enthusiasm with some great questions about Grasshoppers, and some excellent dance moves at the end.

Well done Tommy!
