Weekly Newsletter - Important Information

Friday 8th November 2024

Dear Parents and carers,

Welcome back to school after half term!

Following on from the feedback from the parent/carer survey we are keen to gather further feedback, particularly about how we can communicate more effectively with parents and carers. We will shortly be gathering further views from you about how to do this. To begin to improve our communications we have put together the dates of the half term page which has been attached to the newsletter.

We also have lots of events coming up next week:

Remembrance Day

On Monday we will participate in a 2 minute silence for Armistice day across the school. The children have been participating in a range of activities and some are learning remembrance poems to perform. We look forward to sharing the poems with you all next week.

Anti-Bullying week
Next week is national anti-bullying week and the children will be taking part in different activities across the school. In addition to this, children are invited to take part in ‘Odd Sock Day’ on Tuesday 12th November to celebrate our differences and be united against bullying. There is no donation required. All we ask is that the children come to school wearing odd socks. Thank you

Children in Need
Next Friday 15th we will be going spotty for Children in Need. Children and staff are encouraged to wear spotty clothing. We will be participating in lots of activities throughout the day including a sing along at lunchtime. Please support this cause if you are able to by donating £1 to the charity. This can be shared on the gates in the morning.

FOMS Movie and Munch
The deadline for booking your child/ren onto the Movie and Munch events next week has been extended to Monday at 12:00pm. Please book your child’s place and pay via their account on parent pay.

Year 1-3 Movie and Munch Thursday 14th November 3:00-4:30

Year 4-6 Movie and Munch Friday 15th November 3:00-4:30

Tombola Donations

Friends of Mead school will be collecting donations for the Christmas Fair next week. Please send your children in with a donation if you are able to. We are looking for unopened bottles of drink, chocolates, biscuits, or sweets,  unused toiletries, unwanted gifts, bric a brac items, and anything else you think would make a great prize! Your children can bring these in with them all week and hand them into their class teacher.

Uniform

Please make sure that all uniforms are clearly labelled with your child's name and class. There was an extraordinary amount of jumpers and cardigans left after over half term. Those with names in have been returned to the children. We are currently in the process of changing our lost property system as the school has grown so big, it is very difficult to return items that are labelled and impossible to return those that have no name at all. Thank you for your help with this.

Yours Sincerely,

Ms A Holmes
