Dear Parents and Carers,
We were fortunate enough to be involved with a pilot initiative to support our SEND pupils in Havering. It is called the PINS(Partnership for Neurodiversity in Schools) project and the aim of this is to bring parents, schools, the Local authority and healthcare together to advocate for our SEND pupils and to improve the provision for our young people as they move through education and beyond.
This project has been created due to the success of the national Autism in Schools project. The approach of PINS has been developed around the key principles of the Autism in Schools:
· Whole School Approach
· Good quality training for staff
· Parents Supporting Parents groups
· Understanding students experience of schools
We are extremely excited about this opportunity as it will support our drive to achieve the best outcomes and services for our SEND community and will support us to involve those other services with our pupils to communicate more effectively with parents and schools.
We are hosting a coffee afternoon for our parents to come and meet the PINS team on Tuesday the 12th of November from 1:30 onwards in our Conference room at Mead. It will be a fantastic opportunity to spend the afternoon meeting and speaking with representatives of the Havering SEND Department and the Local Parent Group over a cuppa. We look forward to spending the afternoon with you.
