Year 1 Bug Houses

This week, Year 1 have been designing, making and evaluating their own bug houses for D&T this week. We began by researching bug houses, looking at what they can be made from and how to make them suitable for bugs like butterflies, ladybirds and bees. Then we designed our own bug house for a specific bug, thinking carefully about what they need. After that we made our bug houses using recycled materials and filled them with things like leaves, bark and sticks to give the bugs somewhere to hide.

Here are some of our amazing creations!

Taste Testing in Year 6

Year 6 are kick starting their D+T topic of Gingerbread this week by taste testing biscuits! We did this as it is important to know what products are already on the market before putting a new product into development. The children evaluated mini gingerbread men, oat biscuits, shortbread and digestives all for the texture, flavour, size, shape and smell.
