WOW- can you Walk Once a Week?

WoW – Badge walking reward scheme

Living Streets welcomes Havering schools back to WOW – the year round walk to school challenge.
2015-16 – a huge year for WOW
Last year’s WOW was one of the biggest ever across the UK, and schools in Havering played a huge part in making it such a success. Together we are helping to reverse the decline in walking to school. In Havering alone, there were 61 schools taking part in WOW. Across the whole country, more than 2,000 schools (around 1 million pupils) took part throughout the year, and a total of five million WOW badges were handed out to pupils. Thank you on behalf of Living Streets for helping to make WOW such a success.
Furthermore, last year more than 70,000 journeys were logged each day, of which 50,000 were walking trips, demonstrating the huge impact that WOW is having. This equated to more than 10 million trips logged over the course of the year!
WOW 2016-17 – Our Neighbourhood
We hope that all of your pupils have been enjoying the first month of WOW 16 -17, and that they are well on their way to earning their first WOW badge.

To earn your badge, you must walk, scoot, cycle, Park and Stride, or take the bus at least once a week for the whole month.
Please avoid pulling up or parking in Amersham Road, as this causes congestion, pollution, and risk of accidents for our children.
