Forest School Session 5

This week, the children worked in small groups to establish a base with everything they would need to survive the night in the woods.

They had access to ropes, para cord, tarpaulins and their imagination! They decided their priorities would include shelter, water, food, entertainment and protection. A variety of shelters were created, some were flat roofed and others were triangular. Some children made traps to ensure they would eat, pretend campfires were built to keep warm and cook food on.

Entertainment ideas included a homemade swing, items found in the woodland to discuss and share and a woodland made remote phone.

The children felt it necessary to protect themselves if they were to stay the night in the woods. One group made a small shelter for their dog (their protector) while others found a variety of sticks to use as weapons of self defence was needed. A fun packed afternoon full of teamwork and co-operation.

Well done Year 3.
