Year 4 Colchester Zoo Trip

Year 4 visited Colchester Zoo last week to see some of the rainforest animals they have been learning about in class.

It was a wet and rainy day but it was still fantastic to see the animals that naturally live in the Amazon Rainforest, such as the green and yellow anaconda, poison dart frogs, a number of varying fish species, Red titi monkeys and our baby Komodo dragon.

We were lucky enough to see some of endangered species including the three toed sloths and the  golden lion tamarin monkeys.

After looking at the rainforest animals, we continued to explore the zoo and some of us were able to feed the giraffes and the elephants, which was a fantastic experience.

At Mead we believe in providing a range of cultural experiences that will close the deficit between children in Harold Hill and those who come from more affluent areas. Were you aware that...

78% of the pupils had not visited a zoo before?
100% of pupils stated that they saw an animal/species that they hadn't seen before
