Weekly Newsletter
Friday 13th June 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,
What a week it has been! This year’s Sports Day couldn’t have gone any better. The sunshine was on our side, the community spirit was incredible and most importantly, the children had a fantastic time! As we haven't received all of the scores yet, we will share these with the children on Monday morning in assembly and let you know via PING . Thank you all for your support throughout the day and a special thank you to the Friends of Mead for organising and running the refreshment stall. We are now really looking forward to welcoming you all to the FOMS Summer Carnival next Friday, which promises to be another brilliant community event.
It has also been an exceptionally busy and successful week in school. The Friends of Mead Father’s Day Sale was a big hit with the children, and we are grateful for the time and effort the FOM team put into preparing and running the event.
Our Year 1 children have shown real focus and determination as they completed their Phonics Screening Check this week. We are incredibly proud of how confidently they approached this important milestone, and we want to thank both the staff who prepared them so well and families at home for the ongoing support.
Likewise, our Year 4 pupils have risen to the challenge of the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) with positivity and resilience. Their dedication to practising times tables has been clear, and it has been fantastic to see them applying their knowledge so confidently. Again, a big thank you to the teaching teams and families for the encouragement and practice that has clearly made a difference.
Looking ahead, we are beginning preparations for the children's transition to new classes. During the week beginning Monday 23rd June, we will be sharing class details and supporting both children and staff as they begin this next step in their learning journey. Transition is such an important time of year, and we are committed to ensuring that all children feel safe, confident, and excited about what’s to come.
Finally, a reminder that roadworks and closures around Gallows Corner begin from 23rd June. We have already seen a noticeable increase in traffic and HGVs on nearby roads, so please do take extra care when crossing roads and encourage children to walk safely to and from school.
Kindest regards,
Ms A Holmes
Headteacher
Important Information
Well Done Year 6 – Fiver Challenge Success!
A huge well done to Year 6 for their fantastic efforts during Enterprise Week as part of the Fiver Challenge.
It was great to see them outside at the end of each day, showing real creativity, teamwork, and enthusiasm while raising money to support their final school event.
We’re delighted to share that a total of £1105 was raised! The children will now have the opportunity to vote on their chosen end-of-year activity—a well-earned reward for their hard work and entrepreneurial spirit.
Well done, Year 6 we’re very proud of you!
School Uniform
With the warmer weather arriving, we appreciate your support in maintaining high standards.
Please note the following:
Leggings and cycling shorts are not permitted unless worn under a skirt or dress
Open-toe shoes or strappy sandals are not allowed for health and safety reasons
Jewellery, including hooped earrings, must not be worn
Large bag charms, keyrings, and soft toys (e.g. teddies) should not be attached to school bags, as they can cause distractions and take up space
Thank you for helping us ensure our pupils look smart, stay safe, and are ready to learn every day.
