Fabulous first week in St Lucia!

We’ve had an exciting first week in St Lucia class, as the children have explored their new classroom and outdoor area. They have settled in so quickly to their surroundings and routines, and even had a chance to meet our farm animals!

They’ve enjoyed making some wonderful artwork and self-portraits in our creative area, and making faces and cakes in the malleable area for their friends. All the children have helped themselves to fruit and vegetables on our snack table, which proved a popular area to talk to their new friends and share more about themselves. ‘I’ve got 2 cats at home, one’s called Pepper!’ said Sadie. ‘I’ve got a little kitten too’ said Tyler.

This week we have also learned that we have some great dancers in St Lucia! The children love doing our ‘5 a day’ exercise and making up actions for our Days of the Week song.  In our outdoor area, the water and sandpit have been particularly popular, and the children have done a great job of taking turns to explore our equipment and share the resources. ‘You have to be careful when you’re digging and look behind you!’ said Joshua.

On Friday the children were thrilled to visit Mead Farm and meet some of our animals. They had the chance to stroke the goats and ponies, and were so excited when our friendliest rabbits hopped over in their hutch to say hello.  ‘He’s trying to eat my sleeve!’ Antony said. ‘I love the horse the most!’ said Hazel.

We have so enjoyed getting to know the children and watching how they have adapted and enjoyed their first week of school. Well done St Lucia, and we will see you on Monday!
