Weekly Newsletter
Friday 2nd May 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,
We've all enjoyed the glorious weather this week—what a wonderful way to start the summer term! While it's not expected to be quite as warm next week, please remember to send your child in with a water bottle to help them stay hydrated throughout the day.
A big thank you to the Friends of Mead for organising the ice pole sale—they were a huge hit! We’re currently working on ways to run these sales more regularly, and will ensure they are available in the KS2 playground to help reduce queues.
This week, we also hosted a Phonics Development Day, and the children were an absolute credit to the school, demonstrating their fantastic progress in reading. A huge thank you to all parents and carers for supporting their reading journey at home—your involvement makes a real difference.
Next week, we will be celebrating Deaf Awareness Week to help raise awareness and understanding. Children will have the opportunity to take part in a fingerspelling competition. For those who’d like to practise over the bank holiday weekend, more information can be found at the link below:

Enjoy the sunshine this weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone back in school on Tuesday!
Kindest regards,

Important Information
Uniform and warmer weather
Pupils are now welcome to wear the summer term uniform of summer dresses and black tailored knee length shorts. Please ensure that pupils bring a name-labelled hat and are wearing sunscreen now that the weather is warming up. There has been an increase in pupils attending school in trainers which are not black. Please see our uniform policy here with examples of correct school uniform.
Safety
There has been an increase in the amount of children, particularly through gate 3 (infant entrance) that are riding scooters in and out of school. Please ensure that your child is not riding their scooter or bike until they leave the school grounds. Please be mindful that the wall leading out of the infant playground is not for walking along and jumping from. However tempting it is, this is a risk to health and safety of the child climbing and others walking passed. Please ensure that your children are not climbing on this wall. Thank you for your support in keeping everyone safe.
Appointments
Although it is expected that all non-urgent appointments are booked out of school time, we understand that this is sometimes not possible and pupils will need to leave school to attend. If your child needs to leave during school hours, please can you make the office aware of this in advance. This ensures that class teachers are aware and that the staff in the office can easily locate pupils. Thank you for your understanding.
