Nursery Newsletter

       Term: Autumn 1                      Date: 10.16.17

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are nearly at the end of our first half term already. What a busy half term we have had. All the children have separated from their parents and  are now settled in Nursery. Thank you for your continued support in this matter. Half term is next week, 23th-27th October. Children are back to school on 30th October.

When we come back to school after half term we will be learning about fireworks. We will have many creative activities running. If you have any finished cardboard kitchen roll cylinders at home please could you save them and bring them into school for us to use.

We will be conducting parent evening appointments in November where you will have an opportunity to discuss with the class teacher how your child has settled into Nursery. Please be aware that we are happy to talk to you each day on the door at drop off and pick up times about your child but any longer conversations will need to be saved for parents evenings as staff are very busy settling children.

If you have not already brought them into school, please remember your child will need a pair of plimsolls for P.E. in a named bag. Each shoe also needs to have your child’s name in. We have a couple of P.E. bags handed to us that do not have names on therefore we are not sure who they belong to. Please see the class teacher if you think you might have forgotten to put your child’s name on their bag. Thank you.

Please also make sure that all your child’s uniform is named. We still have lots of children without names on their jumpers/cardigans. We children take them off staff do not know who they belong to and they are more likely to be lost/misplaced.

Routines/Messages
As there is limited space to enter the Nursery Classrooms we kindly request buggies are left in the playground area if you come into the Nursery classes with your child.
Please be patient whilst we learn names and faces of parents. It may take us longer initially to dismiss the children but children’s safety is our main priority. If parents/carers could wait by the exit door whilst we learn new names this would really help us. There will be another member of staff available slightly away from the entrance door so we can talk to you about any queries/questions you may have without blocking the exit.
.
At Mead children play outside in all weathers. Please make sure your child attends Nursery with a waterproof jacket each day. Additional hats/scarfs etc may be needed as the weather gets colder. Please be aware children may finish Nursery slightly messy or slightly damp from playing outside. We believe that children learn a great deal from playing in different weather conditions and please be assured that your children will not be left in soaking wet clothing for the whole session. If you would like to send spare clothes in to keep at Nursery incase of accidents please hand them to one of the Nursery staff in a named bag.

Nursery times
Please be aware of our Nursery times. We have different sessions running throughout the day where children start/finish at different times. We are aware that parents are very busy people but we ask you to respect our times by not dropping your child earlier than your given time and not being late at home time.
