Year 3 Mathletics Stars

Congratulations to the following year three children who completed lots of maths activities at home and earned themselves a Mathletics certificate this week:

Isla, Grace, Hollie, Lorena, Andrey, Avyukt, Aum and Shay (Scotland), Taha, Mia, Arsalaan, Layla, Nuhaa, Izyan and Charley (Northern Ireland) and Sidrah, Amy, Janvi, Zuzanna, Amber, Ella, India-Rose, Izabela and Sandra (Wales).

Reception's first week at school

It has been a busy first week across Reception with lots of eager faces keen to explore. This week we have been embedding our Mead Creed, demonstrating our turn taking skills, using the equipment within the provision to support our learning and most importantly having fun!

It has been lovely to see the children all come together, working as a team and seeing friendships begin to blossom. We enjoyed sharing our "All about me" bags during our circle times, finding out things we have in common and having the opportunity to ask questions. The children in Reception are all off to a great start as they begin their learning journey and we are looking forward to creating memories along the way.

YEAR THREE ARE SCIENTISTS

In Science this term the children in year 3 are learning about light.  So far they have learned that light is a kind of energy called electromagnetic (EM) radiation and investigated whether objects are luminous or non-luminous.  They carried out an experiment to discover if/ how light travels and looked at how light reflects off different surfaces.  They have also been making predictions and recording their findings in tables just like real scientists.  The children have had lots of fun as well as learning lots of scientific facts and skills.
